This traditional Indian wedding ceremony and reception took place at the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose. In my opinion, what differs traditional Indian or Hindu wedding from others, besides fun customs and rituals, is the interaction between two families. Photographer has to concentrate on documenting this complex flow of events involving huge groups on the move from one location to another in short time. This requires an ability to react, to plan and to consider each step fast enough to predict the next best photo opportunity.

Traditional weddings are, may I say, colorful... So there more details to photograph. The gowns, henna, jewelry, ceremony decorations require careful considerations to allow best detail shots. In some situations, external lighting must be used. Majority of Indian weddings I had photographed require a serious number of group shots. Careful schedule planning and possible wedding coordinator services are recommended to allow this part not to take too much time.

Although I never recommend base the decision of selecting a wedding photographer only on sole factor such as "previous Indian wedding experience" - most important is photographer's style and overall experience. However, Indian weddings involve additional aspects of photography so previous experience wouldn't hurt. If you need help selecting your wedding photographer, feel free to visit this page.
