Venu + Alok

Life brings surprises on its every twist but some are like a bomb shell in your life which changes everything about it. I met this couple on their wedding and I found their story so very interesting to share with everyone.

Venu and Alok were two different people living in the diverse corners of the world. Nobody knew that they are going to be the future partners forever unless Alok decided to leave Mumbai and come to United States for further studies. Venu was born and brought up in Palo Alto in California and Alok ended up getting Admission in San Jose for his MBA.  But during his stay over there he got really attached with the place and made amazing friends. Later receiving a great opportunity from Alabama, he relocated to work as dental fellow in the University of Alabama. But California was out of the ordinary for him. Whenever he used to get time he used to go down there to catch up with his old buddies. Just like that, he had a plan to meet up at starbucks café with his friends and he wasn’t aware of the fact that this place and this get together is going to generate a huge impact on his life; in fact changing it FOREVER.

Venu was a friend of a friend. When this rendezvous arranged, their common friend ask Venu too to join the party. As destiny has taken its decision before now so she agreed to come along. Alok was already there in the café waiting for his friends and the moment Venu entered, Alok got dazzled. He found her so beautiful that he couldn’t take off his eyes from her. Later when everything got settled and they were introduced, they started a little chit chat which went on and on and on…the bell rang in both hearts.  Later Alok’s regular visits to California and meeting her parents made him feel more strongly in relation to Venu and soon he decided to propose her.

Within their hearts they knew that they are in love with each other with complete profundity and compassion but still the big question was for Alok that how should he propose her? He wanted to make that moment as perfect as a fairy tale. And believe me people, he made the moment deliciously remarkable for her. He took her for a long drive keeping the ring in his pocket (with heart pounding throughout the entire drive).  He was taking her to the the Golden Gate Bridge. Although she kept asking “why you taking me there” but he was behaving usual, said “I just want a have a walk with you over there” without disclosing what frenzy going on inside him. Then, when the beacon of sun was setting down and the waters were shining like stars, in the middle of the bridge he stood there holding her in her arms, playing their favorite song “you are the one I love”. He asked if he is the person she would want to be with, and bending on his knees, he spoke his heart “Miss Venu Bhakhri will you marry me and honor me by being my WIFEYY??” his pounding hearted waited as she stared at him and her facial expressions changed. She was in awe and a wide smile covered her face replying “Yes I will”.

Their wedding was beyond doubt a fairy tale wedding which was completely accorded by Indian rituals and simultaneously was a perfect mingle with the spirit of fun and fashionable touch.  Venu was the center of attraction and she was given a free hand to pick anything she likes; from the color theme for the decor to the wedding outfits. She sweated her way down to the core details in a short period of six months to ensure that everything fell in place and was the way she had always dreamt of. A further main fixation for her was for the search of perfect venues for the wedding ceremony and reception. She wanted something fine-looking but also special to let her guests enjoy to their max. And she was able to find such locations. The wedding took place outdoors in the beautiful scenic Silver Creek Valley Country Club overlooking the San Jose Valley hills and beautiful waterfall within the golf course. The reception took place at the type of location Venu was looking for; singular in its type, buoyant, classy and cool. The sight in the Metreon in San Francisco included an amazing terrace. Moreover, the glass windows throughout the hall made possible the guests to get pleasure from the city view even while seated inside. With over 900 guests it was so important for them that everyone enjoys and this venue made it happen. The overall decor was done by Prime Party Rentals. And the Photography was by IQ Photos.
Mryium from Laenka was hired for makeup/hair artist for Reception and Tamanna Roshan from Dress your Face was hired for makeup/hair artist for Wedding.

Pre-wedding celebrations went on for three days; the wedding and the reception, all turned out to be gorgeously mesmerizing and unforgettable.  The entire guest list had a great time and constantly kept telling that their wedding is one of the most beautiful weddings ever, and they had never been to a wedding like this. Their Mission was accomplished!

This couple I would say has quite a deep understanding of hearts. They have the true compatibility of spending life together. They say their minds are so much alike that at time they utter the same words while talking to each other. It is love and pure love that binds them together. They love each other’s company and enjoy the slightest happiness they come across. Lucky they feel to have met each other. Their love and concern is remarkable and I wish them good luck for their future.

We truly enjoyed photographing their beautiful Indian Wedding.

Burr + Xuan | Bloomington, Indiana

Burr and Xuan enrolled in the same graduate school program in September 2008, and that’s how they came to know each other. Burr always had his eyes on Xuan, but she seemed as if she would never even give him a second glance. That’s how cruel women can be. Luckily, Burr knew exactly what his problem was – long messy hair, beagle beard, and dirty glasses. But what a man won’t do to impress a girl and conquer her heart? Burr decided there was absolutely no way back. He got rid of his scruffy old self. He had his hair cut neatly and shaved off his beard. When he went back to school, no one could recognize him, except one person –Xuan, and not only he got a second glance from the girl of his dreams, but she even found his new look very cute. So,they started going out in winter of the same year. Their relationship revolved largely on their love for video/card/board and all other kinds of games. They love playing the Final Fantasy VIII together. It always makes Burr happy to see Xuan improving her English communication skills through it and he finds it funny every time Xuan says, “Attack the base!” Among many others, Burr adores Xuan for her sewing hobbies. During one of their monthsaries, she knitted a sweater and gave it to him, though it wasn’t even done yet. Nevertheless, he still found it very cute of her to try and give it the way it was. After all, it’s the thought that counts. Another funny, yet romantic, recollection Burr has of Xuan is when he fake-proposed to her and gave her a can tab in place of a ring. He promised he would get an actual ring within three months, and he actually did.

But like any other intercultural relationships, theirs was not without challenges. Due to their different cultural backgrounds, communication had put a dent in their relationship a few times. Indeed, they may interact silly sometimes, but they have come to the point where they have learned to understand each other, and learned to discuss their differences when the need arises. They always respect each other and let each other be themselves. All these years that they have been together, Burr and Xuan found out for themselves that no matter how much they enjoy pursuing their own interests and passion–home will always be in each other’s company. They love the cozy space and cheerful attitude when they are around each other.
They got married in Deer Park, Bloomington, Indiana. The spot, they’ve picked for their wedding ceremony was truly charming. Long time ago it was a radio station, where Burr’s father used to work. It always was and surely will remain a very special place in their hearts. If they were given a chance to renew their marital vows anywhere they want to, the couple said they’d want to do it in Ireland. Burr is partly of Irish origin but other than that, the couple shares mutual love for green grassy fields, adorable sheep, and the Irish accent!

Jessie + Josh

“Gravitation cannot be responsible for people falling in love. How on Earth can you explain in terms of chemistry and physics so important a biological phenomenon as first love? Put your hand on a stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with that special girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. That’s relativity”-Albert Einstein.

It might take the other couples months to exchange as many small gestures of sweetness as these two do in a given week. For instance, Sunday is a laundry day, and Jess always folds josh’s shirts the good way-you know, so there is no crease down in the middle. She does this even when it’s late and it means folding her own shirts not in the best way to save time. Meanwhile, josh has made a priority of getting to bed early on Jessie’s crazy anesthesia schedule, and by early we mean 8:30pm. On weekends, Jess often drives to Ocean Beach with Josh to run while he surfs, even though that involves a fair amount of waiting in the car. Similarly, while Jess being pricked and prodded during all her bridal fittings in San Francisco, Josh waited in the car. It was worth it to go on urban hikes together afterward. Call it selflessness or tenderness, but maybe these two just never want to be apart. Jessie and Josh have also racked up more epic examples of sweetness toward one another. For example, take the time Josh killed a wild animal for Jessie in his effort to set up the perfect engagement. He secretly drove three hours out to Point Reyes, under the guise of a boys’ night, to set up a room full of her favorite flowers, candles and photos. The only problem was that the lodge closed early, and he had to fly down the highway to get there. During the mad dash, he managed to run over a large raccoon. It was his first murder, and he was shaken. But when Jessie noticed how unnerved he seemed late that evening, he shrugged it off as just a “stressful night with the guys” and smiled. His surprise remained intact, and their engagement story remains one of the sweetest stories ever. A month after their engagement, Josh, unfortunately, was in a serious car accident. After the initial panic subsided, and Jessie learned that the guy she loved would be fine aside from a shoulder injury, she cared for him patiently. That first night, she carted her nostalgic husband-to-be, who was very stoned on painkillers, off to see his friends in San Francisco. And through the next few months, it was Jessie, more than the physical therapists or orthopedic surgeon, who helped Josh design a workout routine that got him back out on his surfboard just a few months later.

Jessie and Josh’s wedding ceremony took place in the Silverado Resort in Napa Valley, where they had invited family and friends most special to them to celebrate the beginning of their lives together. They chose us to capture this precious day through our lens, and Gary Chan as videographer. DJ Vadim made the guests rock the dance floor all night long. In this outstanding beautiful valley they gathered to celebrate a future of showing each other their love during Sunday chores, life-changing events, and all the days in between.

Ava + Sercio | Palace Hotel SF

Ava and Sercio went to the same high school, but didn’t know one another. Years passed… they both went off to college and a couple years after graduation, their paths crossed again. Sercio was friends with Maryam, Ava’s best friend and college roommate. He saw a picture of a pretty girl on her social profile and asked her to come to a house party, that he was throwing and told her to bring that girl-he needed to meet her… And eight years later, they finally closed the deal, and got married.

Some would say that Ava and Sercio are quite opposite – Ava is outgoing, loud and spontaneous; Sercio is a bit more introverted, conservative and logical. But these two opposites bring out the best in one another. After so many years together, they still make each other laugh and their love gets stronger as the days and years go by.

Sercio bought the engagement ring and came up with the brilliant idea of capturing the proposal on video. He set up a hidden camera in Ava’s San Francisco apartment and popped the question. He wrote this note, hoping that she would say yes… and of course, she did!

This is what the note said:
“About six and a half years ago, a boy and girl met.
The boy was a little late to their first date at Straits,
But it was okay because she liked him.
He smiled, and so did she;
The seasons went by, and the boy fell in love
And the girl did too, luckily, with him.
Of course every season wasn’t perfect,
And in those moments of imperfection
The boy and the girl fell deeper in love.
That love brings us here,
And the boy’s heart is beating a million times a minute….”

They celebrated their love by saying vows to one another and promised to stay by one another no matter what life brings.
At their perfect wedding they were surrounded with all their family and friends. . These people made this day truly special for the newlyweds. And the big day came out everything they have ever wanted, just as they have always imagined.
